Which area of the film industry (production, distribution, exhibition) do you think new technologies have had the biggest impact on and why?
I think that new technologies have had the biggest impact on the exhibition area of the film industry. This is due to the fact that there are a lot more ways of presenting a film to an audience. For example; YouTube is part of the Web 2.0, so it is very easy to find and this also means that it is free. Film industries can post trailers or clips onto YouTube and know confidently that they will be viewed. Also, due to social networking sites, like Twitter, film industries or actors can post 'tweets' or clips about their film and they know that people around the world will be able to see them. Smartphones allow people to download apps and fims (normally at quite a small price) that allow them to view films anywhere at anytime.
